Rolex GMT-Master “Root Beer” Two-Tone, ref. 16753, from circa 1984 - serial no. 8493xxxx. A classic vintage GMT-Master in stainless steel and yellow gold featuring the distinctive brown colour combination that earned the model its “Root Beer” nickname. Ref. 16753 belongs to the first generation of GMT-Master watches with quickset date and is particularly interesting in this configuration with the sought-after Nipple dial. The watch measures 40mm and is crafted in stainless steel and 18k yellow gold with a plexiglass crystal and a bidirectional rotating 24-hour bezel. The brown and gold bezel insert complements the brown dial with its characteristic raised gold hour markers. These so-called Nipple markers are a distinctive feature of early GMT-Master models in gold and steel. The dial features gold-tone hands, a central 24-hour hand and a date display at 3 o’clock with a Cyclops lens. The watch is fitted with a Jubilee bracelet in stainless steel and 18k yellow gold. The bracelet shows some stretch. Inside is the automatic Rolex Calibre 3075 with GMT function and quickset date. The central 24-hour hand works together with the rotating bezel to display an additional time zone. Comes with 2020 AD service and generic NATO strap, but no other accessories.
