Blancpain Fifty Fathoms 3H Bund – 6645 from the 1970s. A highly rare and fascinating Blancpain Fifty Fathoms produced for the German Bundeswehr frogmen during the 1970s. These watches were never commercially available and were issued exclusively for military use. The model differs significantly from the classic Fifty Fathoms references with its distinctive sterile Bakelite bezel insert, featuring no numerals or minute markings. The German frogmen used rebreathers during their dives, making traditional minute-marked diving bezels unnecessary. The watch features an impressive 41 mm case that remains strong and well preserved. The case has fixed strap bars and a crown positioned at 5 o’clock. The caseback bears the characteristic Bundeswehr engraving: 6645-12-171-41XX. The original white hands contain lume that closely matches the hour plots on the dial. The dial is marked 3H, indicating the use of tritium. The striking orange minute hand adds a particularly distinctive touch. It is highly unusual to find a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms 3H Bund in such good and original condition. Military-issued watches often show significant signs of use, making well-preserved examples like this particularly interesting to collectors. While official production numbers remain undisclosed, it is estimated that approximately 250–500 examples were produced, with fewer than 100 believed to survive today. This makes the reference an exceptionally rare collector’s watch. Comes with box and certificate.(unfilled certificate)
