Rolex GMT-Master “Pepsi”, ref. 16700, L-series from circa 1989. A classic GMT-Master from an interesting transitional period in Rolex history. Ref. 16700 was introduced in the late 1980s as the successor to the 16750 and became the final generation of the original GMT-Master, while the GMT-Master II was offered alongside it. The L-series places this example around 1989. The watch features a 40mm stainless steel case with a black tritium dial and the iconic blue and red aluminium Pepsi bezel. The red GMT hand works together with the rotating 24 hour bezel to display an additional time zone. The watch is fitted with a Rolex Jubilee bracelet, which was also an original bracelet option for ref. 16700. Inside is the automatic Rolex Calibre 3175. This generation features quickset date and sapphire crystal with Cyclops over the date. Comes without accessories.
