We are happy to offer a great example of the transitional Rolex Sea Dweller, ref. 16660 aka. Triple Six, from 1984. The Triple Six in itself is quite a popular reference and this example is particularly fine! The dial is the first generation gloss dial for the 16660. The first version of these dials had some manufacturing issues, that caused the dials to develop surface cracks. These dials are what we know today as Spider Web dials. Rolex never addressed this issue publicly, but offered customers with these dials to swap them for free with a new dial, that would later be known as the Mk2 gloss dial. This means of course, that a very limited number of these dials remain in circulation and therefor is particularly interesting for collectors. The beautiful dial has achieved a stunning and even patina, perfectly matching the hands and pearl. The bezel insert has aged to a matte black, to almost dark blue color, giving this watch a rather unique and neat appearance. The case and lugs appears to be unpolished, with clearly visible and intact bevels. This of course means that the watch shows signs uf usage, but really only attests to the very honest condition of this watch. The watch comes with box, papers, certificate, hangtag, anchor and toolset.
