Until 2010, obtaining a Grand Seiko proved difficult for many watch collectors, the watch was only available in Japan, necessitating a trip to Japan to purchase one, or turning to the used watch market to secure one themselves. In 2010 that was the 50th anniversary of the Grand Seiko line of watches, Mr. Hattori, Seikos president and CEO, announced that the Grand Seiko line would be released worldwide.
